Project Management

The role

The project management team plays a crucial role in delivering complex technical solutions. This function is responsible for our business analysts and project management function and oversees multidisciplinary delivery teams consisting of strategists, UX experts, developers, designers, and marketers. 

As the Head of Project Management, you will define the project approach and governance for our active deliveries, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget and to our quality standards. Your responsibilities will include the line management and support of team members, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge, and tools to steer projects toward success, while providing the business with robust and accurate project reporting. Additionally, you will monitor and evolve our delivery processes and capabilities in alignment with the business strategy and vision. 


Main responsibilities


Leadership 

  • Collaborate Across Departments: Work with senior managers across the business to ensure the principles of insightful excellence are integrated into our processes and outputs.
  • Model for Success: Create a model for success and quality within the team, ensuring that all members understand what success looks like at individual, project, team, and business levels.
  • Evaluate and Adopt Emerging Technologies: Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies and trends, adopting them where appropriate.
  • Define Direction: Collaborate with other department heads and subject matter experts to define the direction required to deliver large-scale and business transformation projects for our clients.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Help the department stay up to date with new technologies, lessons learned from previous projects, and share insights. 
  • Motivate and Drive: Motivate and drive the team to succeed, championing quality and aligning the team’s output with Equator’s high standards.
  • Support Information Security: Work with the Head of Compliance and Head of IT to maintain our Information Security Management System, ensuring it meets business and external stakeholder expectations.
  • Business Development: Support business growth opportunities by reviewing and contributing to proposals, shaping our approach, contributing to estimates, and selling our services and capabilities to stakeholders.

Performance 

  • Approach Deployment: Work with the Head of Delivery to determine the appropriate approach for each project, including the use of documentation and controls such as User Stories, Project Plans, Sitemaps, Wireframes, Functional Specs, Technical Specs, Test Plans, Project Reports, and Client Action Logs.
  • Maximise Profitability: Deliver maximum profitability by ensuring high performance and quality, monitoring departmental performance, and developing initiatives to continuously improve our delivery processes.
  • Lifecycle Management: Manage multiple projects throughout their lifecycle: selecting the project team, scoping, planning, resourcing, information gathering, budgeting, and liaising with the client. Scope, document, and deliver projects, taking full ownership of the approach, delivery, and project financials. 

Management 

  • Mentor and Support: Mentor and support your team to reach their full potential.
  • Provide Feedback: Ensure clear and constructive feedback is provided to team members.
  • Personal Development Plans: Create Personal Development Plans for your team and support them in achieving these through one-to-one sessions and appraisal feedback processes.
  • Set Objectives: Set clear, transparent objectives for your team.
  • Skill Development: Develop the skills and expertise of your team in line with business objectives.
  • Manage Recruitment: Manage recruitment for your department, ensuring a balance of capability, experience, and seniority.

  • You have knowledge of a wide range of techniques, tools and concepts related to project management and business analysis and a willingness to learn more.
  • You are an excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
  • You are forward-thinking and proactive.
  • You are a motivational leader.
  • You build great rapport with clients and the production teams.  Your educated and justified opinion is respected by them, you inspire them, and you pitch confidently to win business.
